Due to Florida Secretary of State Glenda Hood's blatant partisanship and outrageous incompetence, Florida's 2004 election is on its way to becoming a repeat performance of 2000. Every day there are news stories about Hood's attempts to disenfranchise voters and take away our rights. We cannot and will not allow Glenda Hood to steal our democracy! Join CODEPINK, Tallahassee Network for Justice and Peace , Florida NOW, the League of Pissed off Voters and others to protest Glenda Hood's actions, deliver a "pink slip" to tell her she's fired, and encourage Florida voters to defend our democracy!

BACKGROUND INFORMATION ON GLENDA HOOD
REASONS THAT GLENDA DESERVES A PINK SLIP:
*Voter disenfranchisement. She tried to bring back the purged voters list and would have prevented thousands of former felons who had their voting rights restored from exercising their democratic rights if media outlets hadn't sued her to make the flawed list public. She's also threatened to throw out thousands of voter registration forms on technicalities, the vast majority of them from Democrats and Independents.
*Voter intimidation. As state police officers have been going into the homes of elderly African Americans in Orlando in an effort that seems designed to intimidate Black voters and suppress their turnout on November 2, Hood has done absolutely nothing to stand up to these tactics and encourage these voters to participate in our democracy!
*Voter security. It's bad enough that there will be no verifiable paper trail for those of us who will vote on touch-screen voting machines, but Glenda Hood also actively worked to make re-counts on electronic voting machines illegal.
*Blatant partisanship. She was hand-picked by Republican Governor Jeb Bush, and at every turn has worked to push the Republican agenda rather than acting in the interests of the people of this state.
