Three documentary films being shown this summer will delve into the personal and political dimensions of conflict in the Middle East.

FILM maniFESTival: A Film Series on the Israel-Palestine Conflict runs in June, July and August, with one feature-length film showing every third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the downtown Pensacola Public Library meeting room, 200 West Gregory Street.

Event organizer Lauren Anzaldo, a local coordinator for the Florida Palestine Solidarity Network (www.flpalsolidarity.com), said that the aim of the series is to present a different perspective on the more than 60-year-long conflict.

"Too often, Palestinians are presented as one-dimensional beings," Anzaldo said. "This film series is an effort to show the realities of life for Palestinians and the atrocities they are suffering."

Anzaldo has traveled to the Palestinian Occupied Territories and Israel twice, most recently in May, when she met with Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat, Palestinian students and officials, and a representative of the American Consulate General.

The films in the series are "The Killing Zone," a BBC documentary about the Gaza Strip; "until when...," a look at four families in the Dheisheh Refugee Camp near Bethlehem; and "Peace, Propaganda and the Promised Land," which examines media coverage of the conflict. See schedule below.
